# Terms of use

These terms cover the website at <https://dashreporter.com/>. The software it serves has its own
terms — see the [licence](LICENSE.md) — and where the two touch, the licence governs the
software and this page governs the site.

By using the site you accept what is below. If you do not, do not use it.

## What this site is

A web page that runs a dashboard and report builder in your browser, offered at no cost, together
with sample data, documentation, and a copy of the source so the page can be checked rather than
believed. There is no account to create and nothing to buy.

## Your data

Nothing you open in the tool is sent here. See the [privacy notice](privacy.md), which explains
what the page does, what the server records, and how to verify both for yourself.

## The software

Using the tool through this site is permitted by the licence at no cost, including commercially.
Hosting your own copy is permitted too. Offering it publicly as a service or product, or stripping
the attribution, is not — see the [licence](LICENSE.md) for the whole of it, including how to ask
for permission to do something it forbids.

## Sample data

The sample files offered here are synthetic. They were generated to demonstrate the tool, they
describe no real person or organisation, and any resemblance to a real business is a coincidence
of the generator. They are free to download, keep and use for any purpose.

## Using the site reasonably

Do not attack the site, attempt to gain access to anything not offered publicly, or automate
requests at a rate that degrades it for other people. Mirroring the files to use offline is fine
and is explicitly anticipated; hammering the server to do it is not.

## Availability

The site is offered as a convenience and comes with no promise that it will be reachable, that it
will keep working, or that it will continue to exist. It may change or be withdrawn at any time,
without notice. Nothing here creates an obligation to maintain it, to preserve a URL, or to keep
any particular version available.

Because the tool runs entirely in your browser, a copy you have saved keeps working whether or not
this site does. That is deliberate, and it is the intended answer to everything in the paragraph
above.

This applies to the fullest extent permitted by law. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain
liabilities to be excluded; nothing here excludes what cannot lawfully be excluded.

**Check your numbers.** This is a tool for looking at data, not a system of record. A conclusion
you draw from a chart is yours, and no dashboard is a substitute for understanding the thing it
describes.

## Other people's software

The page bundles DuckDB-WASM and Apache Arrow, which remain under their own licences (MIT and
Apache-2.0). Those licences govern those components.
